The Ocean of Consciousness

Good morning, world. I have a few free minutes, and sharing is something I enjoy. Out of my busy work schedule, I sometimes like to share a little bit and do something I enjoy, not just keep my nose to the grindstone all day. Recently, I’ve been thinking about this bubble of perception or awareness, which we have as our reality, right? What we see from inside our body to around us. We see our own hands and feet. We feel sensations inside us, whether they’re hot or cold. We experience emotions like happiness, joy, hunger, or fullness. This is our whole reality, this little sphere of what we see around us and what we feel inside us. But the truth is that there is much more to the self and who we are. After learning more about the nature of consciousness and God, I’m starting to understand that we are like little streams of consciousness, and the ocean of consciousness is behind all of us.

This ocean is our true self that we have forgotten, and we have divided ourselves into these little drops of consciousness that come down here and reincarnate through many lives until we become human. Then some of us have this recollection, notion, or idea that our true self is something more than this. Maybe you’ve had this insight or idea where you feel like you are actually connected with all other life out there, all the other consciousness, and you are just temporarily divided from it all. What I’m trying to explain is that if we start to understand this concept and become aware of this ocean, we can always know that we have this backup of infinite power, wisdom, love, and competency that can flow through us whenever we need it. This is our true self. We have just come down here into these individualized identities—our name, our body, our career—so we can experience this creation and learn from it. But our true self is a unified ocean of consciousness.

That unified ocean of consciousness can help us and flow through us whenever we need its help. By surrendering our ego and lowering the voice inside our head that tells us who we are—since, as we all know, our reality is mainly what we believe it to be—if we believe strongly that we are separate from everything else, meaning the ego, because the basis of the ego is separation, then that belief creates that outcome. It is very hard for us to feel connected to everyone and have this ocean come and work through us and bless us if we believe in our own separate identity and that we are not connected. That can be difficult because the ego can become very strong. It’s almost like a parasite that lives inside us, and over the years, it becomes stronger. Sometimes it feels like it needs to be powerful for you to survive, and you don’t want to give up the ego because it gives you strength and makes you feel like you can get through difficult times.

But the truth is, true strength is having no ego, or less ego, because the true strength is in God, this ocean of consciousness, which can’t really come through, work through us, and bless us unless we first lower the ego. We must believe and always maintain the awareness that this ocean exists, is there, and can work through us at any time to create miracles for us. If we believe and are ready to receive, and then this happens for us, we should be thankful and give thanks to the creator—God, Allah, Buddha, or whatever you want to call this ocean of consciousness—for working through us and accomplishing these tasks. We don’t accomplish something really well and then say to ourselves, “Wow, I did this. I’m really awesome.” Every time we say “I” to ourselves, we are separating ourselves from the truth. The truth is that we are all one. “I” is like a temporary illusion, just like Neo in the Matrix, if you’ve seen that movie. He’s fallen into an illusion of reality, which is the same as the ego, identity.

The purpose is for us to slowly start to understand and realize our true self is more than this. We have the choice to continue going back into ego identities, life after life, or to slowly merge and return to our true self, which is the ocean of consciousness, connected through all things and all life. I think this gives us a broader scope of value to ourselves and who we are, and our potential. We have less fear, and we can face more difficult situations when we know we have this ocean of consciousness behind us, always there, always in the back of our mind. We’re always remembering that this ocean is there and can work through us at any time. Whenever you need it, all you have to do is humble yourself, close your eyes, and bring your attention inside your body, because that’s your closest connection to God—not in some external object or thing. The idols, churches, mosques, and temples are all good reminders of God and the spiritual realm, but our true connection is inside our own body. When we want to connect and ask for help, we bring our attention inside, close our eyes, quiet our mind, and then ask for help. Then we wait for guidance and help to come when we need it. Thanks for tuning in to this. Let me know your thoughts, and have a great day. Namaste
